The time to start inquiring about your pension is not when you are nearing retirement, but on the first day of your career.
To that end, AOJT recently sponsored a Pension Seminar at the UFT headquarters. We were fortunate to have Mr. Tom Brown, assistant to Mr. Mel Aaronson, as our guest speaker. Mr. Brown educated and entertained us portraying his many years of expertise as a financial consultant.
We ran overtime in order to satisfy all participants’ questions. Many of our members arrived with spouses in tow as financial matters are often decided jointly.
Everyone was treated to a complimentary breakfast, sponsored by AOJT and catered by Bagel Hole of Brooklyn. There were fresh warm assorted bagels, tuna fish, egg salad, various cream cheeses and mini Danish for dessert. The UFT graciously provided us with orange juice, water, and strong brewed coffee and tea. A great time was had by all.
Kudos to AOJT Vice President Joan E. Rosenberg for chairing this amazing event. We are planning a similar seminar for next year for those who missed this one and new interested members. Please join us.
